Task Management Sovereignty: Deploying Vikunja with Encrypted SQLite

The Context: "The 3 AM Trigger"

A commercial todo application had an outage that locked our engineering team out of their project boards. We decided to self-host our task management using a fast, sovereign tool.

The Problem Statement

Manage project tasks and boards privately with rapid updates and offline access.

Visual Architecture: The Flow

The Core Logic / Process

Sovereign Todo Engine

  1. Fast Go API: Vikunja runs as a single lightweight binary, querying SQLite databases.
  2. Offline Mode: Keeps records accessible on local networks.
  3. Encrypted Storage: Keep database files on encrypted loopback drives.

The "Baigan" Take (Expert Insights)

Your tasks are your roadmap. Keeping them on a third-party server is a baigan-level risk. Run Vikunja locally, keep it secure, and stay organized.
